The star of The Transporter’s chase scene was a 1998 BMW 7-Series. Well actually three 1998 BMW 750iL’s. At least one of those was fitted with a manual transmission. Unfortunately all three were damaged during the production with of those being destroyed. This leaves us with one possible surviving 1998 750iL with a manual. My question is, where is it now?

Wasn’t those Euro spec 735iL's?

I think it was a 740i that had the manual transmission... The other cars were 750i. They wouldn’t have bothered doing a transmission swap on a 750i when a 740i is readily available with it...

They were 735iL models, as Frank and the inspector discussed.

Apparently the “vehicle seen throughout the movie is a 1998 BMW 750iL Euro model, referenced as a 735i. This was a product placment vehicle to promote BMW’s 7 series of vehicles. The 750iL in the film had a stock 322HP V-12 engine and was fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission (850ci) for the movie (by BMW) to allow for more “action” during the chase sequences.”

hum... seems like a bit of a waste of money considering the 740i is not much slower than a 750i... Not that they care much considering the budget of the movie lol, but still.
Is the transmission of an 850i “plug and play” on the 750i engine?

Well if they wanted the V12 sound and smoothness then you go for the V12

wherever it is, its future is far more bright than this movie franchise.

it bolts up, but coding the dme and deleting the egs is a painful process. Driveshaft has to custom as well.
